In 1996 Riverland Water was awarded a 27-year contract by the State Government to finance, design, build and operate 10 new water treatment plants to bring filtered water to 100,000 South Australians in more than 90 rural communities.

In addition to providing value-for-money water treatment, under its contract Riverland Water is committed to making a substantial contribution to the State’s economic growth through:

• Purchases within South Australia
• Developing exports.
