Graduate Program - Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at the end of the two year program?
Graduates are free to apply for any internal vacancies in SA Water at any time throughout their graduate placement, however we encourage graduates to experience as much of SA Water as possible before deciding the kind of role they are interested in.

After around 18 months the Recruitment Programs Team will work with graduates to start looking at areas of the business they are particularly interested in gaining a role within and assist graduates in applying for applicable roles as they arise. If, at the end of the two year program, a graduate has not won a role in the business they may remain employed by SA Water (subject to performance), and we would continue to work with graduates assisting them to apply for roles within the Corporation.

Does SA Water support futher education and study?

SA Water supports graduate engineers in applying for and working towards their CPeng (Certified) status. We also assist accounting graduates in attaining their CPA/Chartered status.

Additional further study is supported once graduates have won an ongoing role in the business (i.e finished or come off the graduate program) and if it is relevant to their position and the business requirements.

Do you accept graduate applications from international students?
We accept applications from international students however we expect the applicant to be in the process of applying for permanent residency status. We also expect international applicants to intend on receiving permanent residency no later than three months into their graduate employment with SA Water, should they be successful in gaining a position on our program.
