The State Government has announced an increase in water concessions for eligible owner occupiers for water use from 1 July 2008. The concession will increase, from a maximum of $95, to 20 percent of the water supply component of the bill, subject to a minimum of $95 and a maximum of $200.
The Government has also announced the provision for the first time of a concession for tenants who can provide evidence that their landlord passes on all water use charges. This concession will also be set at 20% of the total water bill (usage charge) but will be capped at $160 per annum with a $55 minimum.
The eligibility criteria for water concessions will also be extended to include Commonwealth Low Income Health Care Card holders.
From July 1 2008, administration of pensioner council and water rate concessions will transfer from SA Water to the Department for Families and Communities. For enquiries relating to concessions telephone the Concessions Hotline on 1800 307 758 or go to the department's website.
