The State Government has announced an increase in water concessions for eligible owner occupiers for water use from 1 July 2009. The concession will increase, from a maximum of $95, to 20 percent of the water supply component of the bill, subject to a minimum of $95 and a maximum of $200.
The Government has also announced the provision for the first time of a concession for tenants who can provide evidence that their landlord passes on all water use charges. This concession will also be set at 20% of the total water bill (usage charge) but will be capped at $160 per annum with a $55 minimum.
The eligibility criteria for water concessions will also be extended to include Commonwealth Low Income Health Care Card holders.
New water rate remissions apply from 1 July 2008. If you are a pensioner or Centrelink Health Care Card holder and you are not already receiving a remission you can find more information and an application form by visiting the Department of Families and Communities website or contacting the concessions hotline on 1800 307 758.
