The SA Water Brain Wave
Working in partnership with the Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS) and our consulting teacher we have developed an exciting year of programs, all of which are linked into the school curriculum. We have expanded on our 2009 program to cater for a wider range of year levels and also extended our learning programs into more regional locations.
The 2010 Brain Wave includes performing arts, science workshops, tours, school visits and professional learning for teachers. To ensure our program extends to as many people across South Australia as possible most programs and resources have been provided free of charge and, where possible, free transfers and travel reimbursements have been offered for rural and disadvantaged schools.
This year's program covers a wide range of teaching and learning perspectives and has a strong focus on science and technology. The key messages for the program include water conservation and sustainability, human impact on the water cycle, the complexity of water and wastewater networks, water is precious and has cultural significance and water is an interesting and rewarding industry with many career options.
Copies of the 2010 Brain Wave have now been sent to all schools in the State.
