SA Water is committed to exploring innovative ways to deliver water and wastewater services to the State and is leading the way in water quality research.
We have an ongoing research and development program conducted through our Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) and Water, Quality and Environment Group.
The Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) at Bolivar, a business unit of SA Water, is nationally and internationally recognised for its expertise in water quality research, monitoring and testing.
The AWQC offers a wide range of products and services to domestic and international clients including:

Professional analytical, consultancy and research services on water quality

Research on key water quality issues including the development of new water management processes and quality monitoring techniques

Provision of professional advice on water quality

Assistance in effective water resource management and development

Assessment of the impact of discharges from water and wastewater operations on the environment

The Australian Water Quality Centre’s expertise in water and wastewater analysis and research has helped SA achieve national and international recognition in these specialised fields.
This research has been further intensified with the creation of the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Water Quality and Treatment, of which SA Water and AWQC are major industry partners.
The CRC focuses on key water quality and health areas of national significance, including public health risk assessment, catchment management, water treatment technology and distribution system management.
