What about construction sites?
Water must not be used to control dust or other pollutants resulting from building works unless the water is supplied from a hand held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, or directly from a motor vehicle designed to carry and deposit water.

As a caravan park manager, am I able to water campsites during the day?
Please note a permit is required if you wish to water outside times listed as part of Water Wise Measures.

Common areas (eg gardens, lawns) may be watered with a sprinkler any day but only before 10.00am and after 5.00pm or by hand (with a hand held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can) or with a drip irrigation system.

If the cumulative total of functional turf areas is over 5000m2 an Irrigated Public Open Space (IPOS) permit must be applied for.

If you have reason to water between 10.00am and 5.00pm a permit is required. Conditions will apply.

How will Water Wise Measures affect councils and schools?
Councils and schools are subject to Water Wise Measures. Functional turf areas with cumulative total areas of 5000m2 and over require an Irrigated Public Open Space (IPOS) permit to irrigate.

What arrangements are in place for commercial nurseries and garden centres?
Watering may take place by hand (with a hand held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can) or with a drip irrigation system. Sprinklers may be used on any day but only before 10.00am and after 5.00pm. If the forecast temperature for the locality of the commercial nursery or garden centre (issued by the Bureau of Meteorology and applicable at 5.00am on the day) is expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius, watering with a sprinkler is permitted between 1.00pm and 2.00pm.
