A Quality Product

There is one thing that we need more than food each day - water.

Water is an essential nutrient for our body. It has various health benefits and, best of all, it is readily available.

It is essential we drink water regularly. This is even more important during hot weather, when exercising or when consuming drinks that can cause dehydration, such as coffee, tea and alcohol.

Every part of our body needs water to function, especially the kidneys. Our body loses water in a variety of ways, such as sweating and even just through breathing.

It is recommended that we drink plenty of fluids several hours before participating in exercise to avoid the risk of serious heat injury.

Thirst is a late signal of fluid loss. Drinking water regularly throughout the day will ensure the maintenance of appropriate fluid levels.

Water has no kilojoules and contains plenty of important minerals.

Tap vs bottle

Unlike bottled water, South Australian Water contains fluoride, which assists in the prevention of tooth erosion and decay. If you drink bottled water instead of tap water you may not obtain enough fluoride to prevent tooth decay.

Many other bottled drinks, such as juices and soft drinks, have added sugar, increasing the risk of tooth decay.

South Australian water is a healthy and safe drink - straight from the tap.

Boost your intake

Health benefits underline the importance of drinking water from a young age.

It’s easy to boost your daily intake of water:

  • Place frozen water in a drink bottle in a lunch pack - this will keep food cool and the water can be consumed once it has defrosted.
  • Keep plenty of chilled water in the fridge, especially on hot days.
  • Add some flavour to a jug of water by using lemon, mint, strawberries, or any other fruit.
  • On cold days, drink warm water - a squirt of lemon juice is also nice with warm water.
  • Always ask for water in restaurants.
  • When serving meals at home, place water on the table.
  • Keep a jug of water on your desk at work.
  • Keep a bottle of water in the car.
  • Have a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning and also before bed.
  • Keep a jug of water and a glass next to your bed.
  • Place water in attractive glasses and containers - this can help encourage children to drink more!
