At SA Water our priority is the treatment and filtration of water to ensure public health is protected.
A high level of water quality is achieved by a strict regime of monitoring and treatment that starts in the Mount Lofty Ranges, River Murray and other catchments and flows through to the taps of South Australian consumers.
To adequately manage the risks to drinking water quality, SA Water is implementing a Drinking Water Quality Management System aligned with the National Health and Medical Research Council’s endorsed Framework for Drinking Water Quality Management. This is a preventative risk based approach from catchment to tap.
SA Water has 20 water treatment plants and undertakes extensive water treatment processes in which water passes through a five-stage cleaning process.
United Water is responsible for the management and operation of the metropolitan Adelaide water and wastewater systems on behalf of SA Water.
