The dangers of storing buckets of water
Many residents have taken to collecting buckets of water from the shower or other means and storing them for later use in buckets. Although this activity is encouraged as a means of water conservation, people need to be made aware of the drowning dangers of storing water.
Parents are being urged to immediately assess how they are storing water and to remove drowning hazards, especially oversized buckets, wheelie bins or nappy buckets filled with water.
The clear and simple life saving message is to isolate the buckets of water from toddlers and children or empty buckets immediately after collection. With thanks to Royal Life Saving for this information.
