The Clare Valley Water Supply Scheme was implemented to supply reticulated township water to the Clare region and to augment supplies to the mid north of South Australia and Yorke Peninsula. Commissioning of the pipeline was completed in September 2004 and the pipeline was officially opened in December 2004.

The scheme consisted of 75km of mains pipes which were constructed in stages. The first stage comprised 24 kilometres of pipe along Schobers Road and Springfarm Road.
The second stage included:

Pipeline between the Morgan-Whyalla trunk main and the Swan Reach Stockwell trunk main via Mintaro and Leasingham;

Pipeline from Mintaro to Sevenhill;

4 mega litre tank at Trillians Hill;

Pipeline from Trillians Hill to Leasingham; and
-
Pump stations at Mintaro and Clare.
