The Milang to Clayton pipeline was completed in December 2007 and is now supplying Clayton Bay Estate with potable water. The distribution network in Clayton Bay Estate, previously managed by Alexandrina Council, was handed over to SA Water on 1 July 2008.

Construction of the Milang to Clayton pipeline provided a number of opportunities to supply potable water to residents outside the Council managed network. Consequently a number of new rural customers have connected to the pipeline along its route from Milang to Clayton.

In addition to the Milang to Clayton pipeline, after a vote from property owners to connect to a mains supply, an extension of this pipeline was constructed to supply the area known as Old Clayton, Alexandrina Estates and the new sub division area of Pelcan Waters Estates.
