SA Water has started a long term planning process for the Upper Spencer Gulf region to ensure that SA Water mains water and wastewater systems in the region have sufficient capacity to meet customer requirements into the future (30 years).
As part of the planning process we will:
- analyse the current status of the water and wastewater systems
- develop population projections and associated future demand using development, population growth and average water consumption data
- allow for environmental and sustainability issues including climate variability and change
- consider potential impacts of various demand management initiatives on the drinking water system
- engage with stakeholders and communities to establish social needs
- identify options to augment the water and wastewater supplies to satisfy customer requirements into the future if, or when, required.
Recently, we invited Upper Spencer Gulf property owners and residents to participate in a survey to assist us in better understanding water use in the region. Over 3000 responses were received.
You can read about the outcomes of the survey in the latest update.
Further updates will be provided at key stages of the process. If you would like to receive these updates, email your contact details to longtermplanning@sawater.com.au
