In February 2009 the State Government advised the Mount Gambier community of a project to construct a fluoridation plant at the Blue Lake to enable fluoride to be added to the city’s water supply as part of a South Australian oral health initiative.
Construction work on the fluoridation plant started in November 2009 and controlled amounts of fluoride began to be introduced into Mount Gambier’s mains water network from 14 October 2010.
