State Details
South Australia has a complex water storage and pipeline system which maximises the use of natural inflows to reservoirs and supplements supply through pumping from the River Murray. The amount of water in the reservoirs at any one time depends on the time of year, pumping as part of SA Water’s annual River Murray allocation, natural inflow from the Adelaide catchments and demand. SA Water has target reservoir levels for each month of the year and it manages the water resources in accordance with these targets. As the main period for catchment inflow into the reservoirs is over winter and spring, SA Water prefers to have an “air gap” - this keeps the reservoir levels low to capture the maximum amount of inflow possible while maintaining the target reservoir levels.
Adelaide's water storages are currently ( 48% of capacity )
Water storage as at 27/05/2015
Adelaide's water consumption ( for 24hrs to 8am 27/05/2015 ):  315.38 ML
