Trade Waste is wastewater (effluent) discharged to sewer from an industrial or manufacturing process or from a business activity of any 
kind. It does not include discharges to stormwater drains, or wastewater from households undertaking typical domestic activities.
The nature of contaminants in trade waste or its quantity can adversely affect the sewerage collection and treatment systems, the public, maintenance workers and the environment. Therefore all dischargers of Trade Waste, large or small, are required to hold a trade waste Discharge Permit.
We work closely with businesses, assisting them to meet permit conditions and offering advice in the areas of water conservation and wastewater minimisation.
