Together with normal domestic wastewater, SA Water manages the discharge of trade waste into the sewerage system of South Australia.
While industry produces 25% of total sewer flows, it contributes 40% to 50% of the total waste arriving at wastewater treatment plants. Without proper management, the pollution in trade waste can adversely affect the sewage collection and treatment process - and the environment.
SA Water works closely with businesses, assisting with trade waste needs and offering advice in the areas of water conservation and wastewater minimisation.
