SA Water owns and is responsible for the operation of the recycled water system at Mawson Lakes.
Recycled water is delivered via a dual reticulation system installed as part of an innovative scheme to help save the State’s precious water resources. The operations of the system are being undertaken by SA Water’s agent, United Water.
Recycled water is suitable for the following:
- Watering lawns, parks and gardens
- Flushing toilets
- Washing cars
- Filling ornamental ponds (with no fish) and water features
- Watering fruit, vegetables and flowers
Recycled water is NOT safe for:
- Drinking, cooking or kitchen use
- Personal washing, such as baths, showers, bidets and hand basins
- Washing clothes
- Household cleaning
- Filling swimming pools and spas
- Playing under sprinklers or other recreational contact
- Washing pets or filling ponds that hold fish
Residents should take extra care when dealing with recycled water connections. It's important that any contractors who are working on your property are aware of the dual water supply and the need to maintain the integrity of the systems. We've prepared a checklist for residents to help you test your recycled water system. If you need assistance in checking your system, please phone us on 1300 884 055.
