SA Water's Northern region covers the greatest area and is our biggest region. Extending from the northern Murray area and across the Far North, this region covers 858,078 square kilometres.
It encompasses some of South Australia's most remote areas - including the true "outback". Stretching across the top of the State, the Northern region also includes the cities of Port Augusta and Whyalla on the Eyre Peninsula, all of Yorke Peninsula, Port Pirie, the northern riverland area including Waikerie, Berri, Renmark and the world renowned Clare wine districts.
Communities along the River Murray and towns from Morgan to Whyalla receive treated River Murray water. Remote communities are reliant on local catchments or ground water supplies. SA Water has depots in Berri, Crystal Brook, Clare, Jamestown, Kadina, Loxton, Morgan, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Quorn, Renmark, Waikerie, Whyalla, Yorketown and the locks along the River Murray.
Servicing a regional population of approximately 150,000 people, the region's 193 staff manage and maintain over 8,000 kilometres of water mains and over 500 kilometres of wastewater pipes and 5 wastewater treatment plants.
