Most gardens have some hard surfaces - such as paving and concrete - used for driveways, patios or entertaining areas.

Always use a hard broom to sweep down outside paved or concreted areas. Never hose them down. Collect the leaves and dirt to use as mulch or compost.

Water Wise Measures prohibit the hosing down of external paved areas with water at any time unless it is absolutely necessary to do so:

• To protect public health; or
• To ensure the safety of people using the area; or
• To ensure the health and welfare of animals using the area; or
• To deal with fire, accident or other emergency.
