To have a clean, shiny car you don’t need to waste water or pollute local waterways.
Make sure you check current Water Wise Measures.
When you do wash your car at home, make sure you do so on a lawn - not on hard surfaces such as driveways or paving. Water runs off hard surfaces and can enter the stormwater system.
The Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy 2003 prohibits the disposal of a range of pollutants into the stormwater system. For example, if you’re washing your car you can’t allow any of the water to find its way into the stormwater system. For more information on the policy phone the EPA on (08) 8204 2004.
