Swap and Save - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take advantage of the offer?

Swap and Save is an exchange program, so in order to receive your new water efficient showerhead, you are required to bring in your existing showerhead. It’s simply a straight swap. When you take in your showerhead, you will be required to fill out a Showerhead Exchange Form and you will be given your brand new 3 star WELS† rated showerhead.

Is the showerhead compatible with all types of hot water services?

3 star rated showerheads should only be installed with mains pressure, solar, electric or gas storage/tank hot water services. Older style gravity fed hot water services (generally in the roof) do not provide adequate water pressure to enable this type of shower head to work at its optimum and some instantaneous hot water services are also not compatible. Check with your licensed plumber if you are unsure of the compatibility of your hot water system.

How will I know if it’s going to work in my shower?

If you are unsure of the compatibility of a 3 star WELS† rated showerhead with your hotwater service, or have any questions about installing your new showerhead, it is recommended that you contact your local licensed plumber or call the SA Water Swap and Save Hotline on 1300 365 422.

What type of showerhead will I receive?

The showerhead you will receive is a 3 star WELS† rated model, which carries a high water efficiency rating. This allows maximum comfort and flow while at the same time saving water. The showerhead uses less than one bucket of water every minute, saving the average household 16,000 litres per person annually**.

Is it true that water efficient showerheads offer little more than a trickle?

Water efficient showerheads have come a long way since they were first introduced. All 3 star rated showerheads must comply with strict performance standards set by Standards Australia, which means significant water savings without sacrificing a great shower experience.

How do I remove my old showerhead?

Ensure shower taps are turned off. Remove your existing showerhead using a spanner or multigrips. Undo the showerhead arm from the wall turning anti-clockwise. For further instructions download a step-by-step Installation Guide.

Where can I exchange my showerhead?

For full details of the various exchange locations, check with your local participating council or call the Swap and Save Hotline on 1300 365 422.

Can I install the new showerhead myself?

Yes. All you require is Teflon tape, which you will receive free with your new showerhead. An easy to follow step-by-step showerhead Installation Guide is available.

I have two (or more) showers. Am I entitled to more than one showerhead?

Yes. We are happy to exchange more than one showerhead per household.

Am I still eligible if I am renting?

Yes, providing you have obtained consent from the property owner / landlord.

What happens to the old showerheads?

Old showerheads that have been exchanged are collected and recycled.

For further information about the Swap and Save Showerhead Exchange Program call the Swap and Save Hotline on 1300 365 422.
