Swap and Save is a free showerhead exchange program where householders can trade in their old showerhead in return for a low-flow model.
The program is being trialled with ten councils under the new Waterwise Communities Program being led by SA Water and the Local Government Association during August and September 2008. The program will then be extended to all councils with the goal to have them all participating by the end of 2008.
By swapping your old showerhead for a 3 star WELS rated water efficient model you could save up to 16,000 litres of water per person annually**.

By choosing to take advantage of the Swap and Save Showerhead Exchange Program, you will be unable to get your original showerhead back once exchanged. If you are a tenant, permission is required from your landlord to change over the showerhead/s as stated in the Residential Tenancy Act. SA Water is not responsible for the removal or installation of the showerhead or any damage caused as a result. To install your new showerhead, we recommend following the step-by-step instructions provided. This program is not recommended for those households featuring gravity fed and old instantaneous hot water services due to 3 star rated showerheads not being compatible.
**Calculations based on standard showerhead flow rate of 18 litres per minute and a 3 star showerhead flow rate of 9 litres per minute, for one 5 minute shower per day per person.
