This rebate ended on 31 December 2011 and must be claimed by 31 March 2012.
  • Stand alone rainwater tanks - from 11 March 2010 up to $200 for a stand alone rainwater tank (a tank not required to be connected to the house)
  • Retrofit rebate - for $30 (free for concession card holders) a licensed plumber will come to your home and check your plumbing fixtures and fittings, retrofit water saving devices (including up to two showerheads) and provide water saving advice. Separate terms, conditions and eligibility criteria apply.

In November 2007, the State Government launched the HOME Rebate scheme to encourage South Australian households to achieve greater water savings inside and outside the home. More than 250,000 rebates worth $45 million have been granted on water efficient products.

A number of rebates are no longer available. These include washing machines, showerheads, dual flush toilets, hot water re-circulators, pool covers, pool cover rollers, home water audits and plumbed-in rainwater tanks.

Who is eligible for rebates?
Rebates are available to all residential properties regardless of whether the property is connected to SA Water mains supply, subject to specific eligibility criteria. Rebates are available to both homeowners and tenants (please see application forms for full terms and conditions). Tenants will need to present a letter from the property owner to be eligible for a rainwater tank plumbing rebate.

How do I apply for the rebate?
You can apply by filling in the application forms available by accessing the links above or by phoning the Water Rebates Hotline on 1800 130 952. Forms may also be available at outlets where water efficient products can be purchased. You will need to supply us with your proof of purchase and installation (where appropriate). Rebates are not available on rented, leased or hired products. The product will need to have been purchased and installed on or after 1 November 2007 (for rainwater tank rebates see application form for date eligibility). Full terms and conditions for each rebate are available on the application forms.

How will I receive my rebate?
On the application forms customers are given the option to have their rebate amount credited to their SA Water account, or a cheque or EFT payment can be arranged. See application forms for more details.

Can I claim more than one rebate?
Residents are eligible to claim one of each separate type of rebate or rebate package per property or per person. There is no limit to the amount of rebates available for not-for-profit or charitable organisations. See application forms for details.
