Water pressure is the pressure of the water coming out of pipes. This is strictly regulated to ensure it is kept at a level that is suitable for use from your taps.
We have a series of tanks located at varying levels that help us regulate water pressure. Most of the tanks are located on the slopes of hills to the south and east of the city of Adelaide - sites chosen for their elevation and for the convenience for connection to mains.
The main function of the tanks is to act as balancing storages.
Demand for water isn’t constant - it depends on the time of day, temperature, weather and a number of other factors. The water tanks help ensure we can deliver water at a fairly constant pressure even in times of peak demand.
