Remote communities

Remote communities

We provide infrastructure services to 18 remote Indigenous communities in the state.

The communities are located on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY), Maralinga Tjarutja (MT) and Aboriginal Lands Trust (ALT) Lands.

In these communities, we manage:

  • Scheduled services
  • Water quality monitoring
  • Emergency responses to related incidents
  • New consumer connections.

SA Water is also helping the state's remote communities to meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG).

We perform water quality testing for all major Aboriginal communities in South Australia. As part of the testing, we collect water samples every three months. The samples are tested at laboratories in both Adelaide and Marla.

The Federal Government also engaged us to manage a number of capital works improvement projects. Many have already been successfully completed.
