Metered hydrant application

This is an application to SA Water requesting:

  • An agreement for the hire and use of a portable drinking water hydrant. The application is valid for three months.

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are the Customer (including a body, whether or not incorporated, partnership or trust) who will possess and use the Hydrant in accordance with our terms and conditions
  • You are a ‘nominated responsible person’ nominated by the customer

SA Water will provide all communications to the party who submits this application. It is the responsibility of that party to communicate with the customer or nominated responsible person.

How long an application takes:

Your online application will take 10 minutes to complete.

We will aim to provide an invoice for the requested service within 5 business days. The invoice we issue following a successful application is valid for 23 calendar days.

Once payment of your invoice is received, SA Water will contact you to arrange collection of your Metered Hydrant.

Information you need to apply:

Have the following information on hand to make it easier to apply:

  • ABN and address of the business
  • Contact details of onsite contact or 3rd party authority
  • The registration number of the vehicle that will be used to access the metered hydrant.
  • The water tanker requirements (top fill with air gap or bottom fill)
  • Back flow prevention requirements including device type and serial number if applicable

Supporting documents:

  • Certificate of Currency for Public and Products Liability of Insurance for amount not less than $20,000,000 in any one event.
  • A copy of SA Health Registration Letter for drinking water provider authorisation
  • Photo of your water tanker showing backflow prevention (Air gap or photo of your bottom fill with RPZD) including the vehicle registration plate

  • 3000 litres and under = 25mm metered hydrant
  • Greater than 3000 litres = 50mm metered hydrant

Water tanker backflow prevention requirements

Does the water tanker have a top fill with an air gap?

Does the water tanker have a bottom fill?

Does the water tanker have a permanently fixed testable backflow prevention device?

Please attach a photo/s of your water tanker showing the vehicle registration plate and the backflow prevention advised above (air gap, or bottom fill with RPZD).
