Our graduate program is a structured yet flexible two-year program. It allows you to undertake six to 12-month project assignments for the duration of the program.
We recruit annually to meet future business needs.
We are looking for innovative, confident and creative graduates from a variety of disciplines. You need to be adaptable. You also need to be able to start and implement projects of strategic significance and community importance.
Graduate placements are across South Australia. They are in both Adelaide and regional locations of the state.
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to apply for a graduate program position.
Graduate program applicants must be open to a range of diverse experiences, being involved in cross-agency projects and working in a variety of areas across the business.

Alyson says she received a lot of support for career planning and development through discussions about where she wants to go and how she can get there.
"Rotations offered as part of the SA Water Graduate Program gave me the opportunity to undertake meaningful work placements in a variety of different areas in the business. I used this opportunity to become involved in project work, which exposed me to many different business groups (operations, environmental
management and procurement) and external organisations, and allowed me to get out on-site and get my hands dirty! I was able to explore the different business groups and find the area to which I was most suited, and that I most enjoyed, and then pursue as a career path. Through working in different groups
I developed a range of different technical and non-technical skills that increased my confidence and networks through the business."
Christy says she realised that small changes can make a huge difference.
"As a part of SA Water's Graduate Program, I was given the opportunity to work in the Product Testing Laboratory in the Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC).
The AWQC provides leading international laboratory services. I was involved directly with developing and evaluating a new experimental method, which was designed to achieve a higher quality of testing and improved time and cost efficiency.
One of SA Water's key values is to seek and apply better ways. The business unit has put a strong focus on research and development of novel technologies. The project I took part in is one of the many opportunities for graduates and staff to work as a team in creating innovative ways to improve laboratory operations."
Mason said he was proud to have worked on a project that is significantly important to the long-term future of South Australia.
"The Adelaide Desalination Plant itself is an innovation. It is the largest water infrastructure project ever undertaken in SA, and it incorporates cutting edge technology in the field of desalination. As a Graduate in the ADP Process team, I have been able to observe the day-to-day operation of a large-scale construction project and provide input to technical document review. I have also contributed to innovative R&D projects designed to reduce problems associated with membrane water treatment. I am conducting lab-based experiments aimed at reducing biofouling of membranes and have incorporated the assistance of various scientific institutions to achieve this. Innovation is a key to reducing energy usage and sustainability of the desalination process. I am proud to be a part of the process.
The ADP is particularly exciting because it is the only project of its size and scale ever undertaken in South Australia. Being a part of it is incredibly rewarding and challenging. There is a learning process that everyone involved in the project is going through. This contributes to individual personal development and understanding of what is required in major projects."
