Trade Waste Funding

Trade Waste Funding

Funding support is available for eligible SA Water business customers to improve the management of their trade waste. This is to help cover some of the costs in identifying and implementing improvements to their operations. Eligible customers who meet trade waste volume and load thresholds can apply.

Funding is available through the State Government’s Trade Waste Initiative. This is delivered by the Office of Green Industries SA through two components:

Resource Productivity Assessments – Round 3 now open to 5pm Friday 17 November 2017

Eligible businesses can apply for funding of up to $10,000. This is to cover up to 50% of the costs to undertake a Resource Productivity Assessment.

The assessment will help identify opportunities and recommend improvements to trade waste management. The aim is to enhance a business's productivity and performance as well as reduce costs. The assessments can also be tailored to assess potential savings. This can be to materials, energy and water on your site.

Food & Beverage Implementation Grants – Round 3 opening September 2017, closes 30 March 2018

This funding is available for eligible SA Water food and beverage customers. It can cover up to 50% of the costs for implementing trade waste management solutions, up to $300,000.

The grant program supports activities that will reduce trade waste volume and/or improve quality. This can include:

  • a new plant or equipment
  • upgrades or additions to an existing plant or equipment
  • shared infrastructure to reduce trade waste impacts in a select geographical area.

To be eligible, businesses must complete (and get approved) a Resource Productivity Assessment. Or they can undertake on-site technology trials. This is to determine if the proposed solution suits the business activity and the site.
