What is the project?
We are upgrading infrastructure at our Hope Valley storage site. There will be two stages: network modification and tank works.
The storage site is commonly referred to as “Terminal Storage”. It has a capacity of 136 million litres. The site supplies water to over 100,000 customers across Adelaide.
As part of the project, noise mitigation works will also be undertaken in the south-east corner of our site.
Why is it important?
In order to ensure ongoing water supply from Hope Valley terminal storage, we need to ensure tank integrity and have committed to the replacement of the tank's roof.
Before we started these works, we were required to make modifications to allow the tank to be taken offline while we worked to complete the tank works.
What can I expect?
SA Water is committed to keeping construction impacts to a minimum.
However during construction there may be work crews in the area and some noise and dust associated with the works.
Some on-site vegetation may also have to be removed to accommodate construction.
Anticipated hours of work are Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm.
How long will it take?
Stage 1 works started mid-September 2016 (network modifications) and Stage 2 works (tank reroof works) commenced early 2017. Major works are anticipated to be completed by the end of 2017.
On 26 November 2017 the new tank roof installation was fully completed, marking the end of one of the final construction stages. While the tank roof works are now complete our contractor is likely to have some presence on site until the end of January as they work to finalise construction, prepare our site for future landscaping works and demobilise from site.
