What is the project?
We are undertaking a project to upgrade our North Adelaide EL51 tank site. The buried tank, constructed in 1878, is located at the corner of O'Connell St and Barton Terrace East in North Adelaide.
The tank supplies approximately 100,000 people and is a critical part of our water supply network.
Why is it important?
To secure our customers water supply we must address blockages, treat cracks on the tank roof and reconfigure existing surface drains.

What can I expect?
A temporary fence will be installed around the work area for the duration of the project. This will help secure the work site and ensure the safety of the public.
There will be no disruption to resident’s water supply.
Traffic management will be in place during works when required. There may be some intermittent on-street parking restrictions.
Some vegetation may need to be removed during these works and SA Water is working closely with Council to maintain the amenity of the local area.
Please note our tank was recently provisionally heritage listed. Our works are designed to protect the historical architecture of the tank.
How long will it take?
Construction is to start in February and take approximately 5 months to complete.
Anticipated hours of work are Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm. Works are not expected to take place on Sundays or Public Holidays.
