Tank Rehabilitation and Renewal Program

Tank Rehabilitation and Renewal Program

What is the project?

We are undertaking rehabilitation works on many of our water storage tanks throughout the state. This investment will help secure the reliability of our tanks to maintain water supply to our customers throughout our network.

Why is it important?

To help secure our customers' water supply long into the future we may need to undertake rehabilitation works on a number of individual tank and tank site components.

This work at individual tank sites may include works to rehabilitate:

  • The tank structure (floor, wall and support columns),
  • Roof sheeting,
  • Safe tank access, and
  • Inlet, outlet and overflow pipework

What can I expect?

SA Water and our contractors are committed to keeping construction impacts to a minimum. However during construction local residents may notice work crews in the area. Local residents may also experience some temporary noise or dust associated with the works.

Some vegetation trimming or removal to accommodate our works may also be required at some sites.

The majority of construction work will take place from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, however some Saturday work may be scheduled.

Temporary interruptions to our customers' water supply are not expected to be required.

How long will it take?

Individual tank renewal works are to be progressed over the next three years. Works at individual sites usually take between 2 to 5 months to complete.

Where can I go for more information?

Local residents and businesses will receive further information about any tank rehab works before the start of construction.
