Tank Rehabilitation and Renewal Program

What is the project?

We are undertaking rehabilitation work on many of our water storage tanks throughout the state. These water storages are an important part of our network distribution systems.

This investment will secure the reliability of the tanks to maintain water supply to our customers through our network.

Why is it important?

To secure our customers' water supply long into the future we must renew some individual parts of our tank sites.

This work at individual sites may include works to renew:

  • The tank structure (floor, wall and support columns),
  • Roof sheeting,
  • Safe tank access, and
  • Inlet, outlet and overflow pipework

What can I expect?

SA Water and our contractors are committed to keeping construction impacts to a minimum. However during construction local residents may notice work crews in the area. Local residents may also experience some temporary noise or dust associated with the works.

The majority of construction work will take place from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday. However, some Saturday work may be scheduled.

Traffic management will be in place during works.

Temporary interruptions to our customers' water supply are not expected to be required.

How long will it take?

Our tank renewal works are to be progressed over the next three years. Works at individual sites are expected to take between 2 – 5 months to complete.

This timeframe may change as a result of technical constraints or poor weather.

    We’re improving your services and undertaking maintenance work in Paradise. Sometimes our crews need to temporarily interrupt the water supply to our customers and/or manage traffic while they are working. Temporary traffic management may remain in place until reinstatement of the impacted road is complete. We always aim to minimise inconvenience by restoring services as safely and quickly as we can.
