Wastewater Mains Rehabilitation Program

Wastewater Mains Rehabilitation Program

What is the project?

We undertake an annual wastewater rehabilitation program throughout metropolitan Adelaide. This is part of a capital works plan to manage and maintain our wastewater network.

SA Water’s contractor, Interflow, is currently delivering this program on our behalf.

Why is it important?

Wastewater mains naturally degrade over time. Renewing them helps to prevent sewer overflows and disruptions to our customers’ service.

What can I expect?

Wastewater mains rehabilitation is undertaken in four stages

  • Manhole Upgrades
  • High pressure cleaning of the sewer main
  • Relining of the sewer main
  • Sealing of property connection junctions from inside the sewer main

You may notice work crews in the area. Some noise and odour may also result from the construction works.

Customers are notified before any work begins in their area. This also includes any night works.

Often to undertake these works we need to implement additional control measures outside our main construction zone. These measures can include the use of extraction fans, vacuum trucks and/or traffic management and be utilised to either control the flow of wastewater into our work area or to ensure the safety of our workers.

We’re improving your services and undertaking maintenance work in Paradise. Sometimes our crews need to temporarily interrupt the water supply to our customers and/or manage traffic while they are working. Temporary traffic management may remain in place until reinstatement of the impacted road is complete. We always aim to minimise inconvenience by restoring services as safely and quickly as we can.
