Wirrina water supply and Yankalilla District sewerage services

More than 2000 property owners within the District Council of Yankalilla officially became our customers on 1 July 2019. We are now responsible for the operation and maintenance of the region’s wastewater network, along with the drinking water supply servicing the town of Wirrina.

The transition to us means reduced sewerage service rates for most residential wastewater customers in the broader council area and lower ongoing water charges for people in Wirrina.

Wirrina property owner contribution

Wirrina property owners and businesses are required to make a one-off financial contribution.

This financial contribution will go towards upgrading the water treatment plant in Wirrina, in order to continue to deliver safe, clean drinking water and bring it in line with our operational standards.

The financial contribution amount has now increased by 5% as the original amount was only available up until 1 July 2019. Should you choose to connect a property from now, the financial contribution will increase by 5% each financial year.

Property owners can choose to remain a drinking water customer of the Council, with the current rate structure in place, mindful that for the majority of residents these rates are significantly higher than our state-wide pricing.
