SA Water is offering a new four year fabrication apprenticeship to start early next year and be based from its Crystal Brook workshops.
The successful applicant for this new full-time role will be fully supported to complete a Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) at TAFE, while gaining real-life experience working on our state’s critical water infrastructure.
SA Water spokesperson, Joshua Zugajev, said this was a fantastic entry level opportunity for someone from the mid-north area.
“The size and breadth of our business make it a wonderful place to hone your craft, with our vast network regularly providing different scenarios to apply the theory you’ve learned,” he said.
“Our workshop team at Crystal Brook has over 150 years of experience between them, so they’ll be great mentors and were recently recognised by our Chief Executive for their approach to welcoming new team members.
“Around 63 per cent of the apprentices we’ve trained over the last 10 years are still with SA Water, with many forging careers that have extended their skills and experiences across different parts of our business.”
The fabrication apprentice will acquire welding and boiler making skills to manufacture various sized pipes, tanks and pumping equipment.
Joshua said the apprenticeship was open to everybody, with the only pre-requisites being basic communication and maths skills, and a commitment to learning.
“SA Water embraces diversity, so our apprenticeship program has no age limits, and welcomes interest from all members of our community, particularly females and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
“Apprenticeships in our regional teams create local job opportunities that can turn into long-term careers, and take you right across our state.”
