If you think your meter is not accurately recording your water use, you can ask for it to be checked and tested. We will either test it on your property or send it to a laboratory off site. More than 99 per cent of the meters we test are found to be accurate.
When we test the accuracy of your meter at your property, we measure 200 litres of water through two devices. One is your meter; the other is calibrated test equipment. The calibrated test equipment accurately measures water passed through it. We compare these results with the water meter at your property and record the results. To verify the results we may test twice. This test is highly reliable, and is completed on the day.
To test the meter off site we will remove it and replace it. The meter will not be put back into service.
We send the removed meter to the Australian Flow Management Group at the University of South Australia's Mawson Lakes campus. The laboratory is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). The results of the testing are returned to us.
There is a fee for testing, listed on the meter test application form [LINK]. If the meter test registers an accuracy error of more than 5 per cent (fast or slow), then we waive the fee.

We will remove and replace your meter at no cost. We may also adjust the water usage on your account.
As the customer account (property owner) meets the cost of meter testing they must authorise the request. Once completed, we provide test results in writing to the account holder.
