Applications open for 2027 Apprenticeship Program

Applications are now open for SA Water’s Apprenticeship Program for 2027, with 7 positions available across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

The 4-year paid program offers hands-on experience and nationally accredited training through TAFE SA, providing apprentices with practical skills in electrical, mechanical and fabrication trades.

Available positions include:

  • Berri – Mechanical (1 position)
  • Crystal Brook – Fabrication (1 position)
  • Happy Valley – Electrical (1 positions)
  • Murray Bridge – Mechanical (1 position)
  • Mount Gambier – Mechanical (1 position)
  • South Para – Electrical (1 position)
  • South Para – Mechanical (1 position)

SA Water General Manager of Operations and Maintenance John Penicud said the apprenticeship program provides an excellent pathway into a rewarding career supporting one of South Australia’s most essential services.

“Our apprenticeship program offers people the opportunity to develop valuable trade skills while contributing to the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure that delivers the essential service, safe and reliable water and wastewater treatment to communities across the state,” John said.

“Whether you’re starting out, looking for a career change, or returning to the workforce, this program is designed to help people build practical skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications.”

SA Water believes diversity is an essential strength and encourages applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and applicants of all ages.

The program combines on-the-job mentoring from experienced employees with classroom-based learning through TAFE SA, helping apprentices establish a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

With positions available across both metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, SA Water is encouraging applicants from local communities to apply.

“Investing in local talent is critical to ensuring we have the skilled workforce needed to maintain and improve the infrastructure that supports our customers every day,” John said.

Applications open Monday 3 August 2026 and close Friday 28 August 2026.
