Apply now for SA Water’s 2026 Community Partnership Program

09-02-2026

From Riverland wetlands to coastal community gardens on the Eyre Peninsula, SA Water is again encouraging grassroots regional and metropolitan groups to apply for its 2026 Community Partnerships Program.

The initiative supports community-driven projects that celebrate water’s role in local life and foster sustainability and wellbeing across South Australia.

Applications are now open for the 2026 program, inviting not-for-profit organisations to propose projects that connect communities with water in meaningful, creative and practical ways.

The program focuses on initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, water literacy, health and wellbeing, and stronger community connections, with up to $10,000 available to support the projects.

SA Water’s Manager of Brand and Community Connection Kellie McDonald said the diversity of initiatives and projects supported by the utility each year continues to highlight the power of local ideas.

“Some of the most impactful projects we see are those designed and delivered by communities themselves,” Kellie said.

“In the Riverland, previous partnerships have helped restore and activate wetland environments, supporting hands-on learning about river health and sustainable water management.

“On the Eyre Peninsula, community-led coastal garden projects have brought locals together to grow food, improve green spaces and demonstrate water wise gardening practices suited to regional conditions.

“Metropolitan communities have also benefited, with past projects across Adelaide delivering water education programs, inclusive community events and creative initiatives that encourage people to think differently about where water comes from and how it supports everyday life.

“Whether it’s a regional wetland, a coastal garden or a neighbourhood initiative in the suburbs, these partnerships help build knowledge, connection and pride.”

SA Water’s Community Partnerships Program reflects its commitment to working alongside communities beyond essential water services, supporting initiatives that deliver long-lasting local benefits.

Applications for the 2026 Community Partnerships Program open Monday, 9 February, and close on 3 April 2026.
