Tunarama bucket test
Your SA Water bucket can be used to collect water around the house, to water your garden, and even test the water efficiency of your shower head.
How to test your shower head's water efficiency
Use your bucket to test the water efficiency of your shower head – the more time it takes to fill your bucket from your shower, the more efficient your shower head. A water efficient shower head flows at 7.5 litres a minute or less, if your shower head uses more than this, you might like to consider taking up our rebate offer to change your shower head over.
You will need your SA Water bucket (or another 10L bucket) and a timer before you get started.
Then follow these steps to complete your shower head test:
Step 1
Put your bucket under your shower head, ensuring it will collect all the water that comes out.
Step 2
Turn your shower tap on full.
Step 3
At the same time, start your timer.
Step 4
When your bucket is full, stop your timer.
Interpreting your results
- If your timer is showing more than one minute and 12 seconds, you have a low flow shower head, which is water efficient.
- If your timer is showing less than one minute and 12 seconds, you can reduce your water use by installing a low flow shower head.
We are currently offering rebates for water efficient accessories, including WELS 4-star shower heads. To find out more about rebates visit our EP Water Security page.
Don’t forget to use the water from your shower test to water your garden or pot plants.
