Myponga Reservoir

Nestled near the township of Myponga on the Fleurieu Peninsula, about an hour’s drive south of Adelaide, is the Myponga Reservoir. The reservoir was built between 1958 and 1962, at a time of rapid economic expansion in South Australia.

Along with the raising of the Mount Bold Dam wall (also completed in 1962), the construction of Myponga increased the state’s storage capacity by around 45 million litres, supporting population growth and the expansion of industry in Adelaide’s south.

Capacity: 27.6 gigalitres

Open to the public: Yes
