If you have a smartphone or tablet you can download the free Avenza Map app and have interactive reservoir reserve maps on hand when you need them.

The app uses your device’s built-in GPS to plot your real-time location within the reserve onto a map. The app can be used without a network connection and without roaming charges. You can also measure area and distance, plot photos and drop placemark pins.

How to get it working on your device:

1. Download the Avenza Maps app from the app store (iOS/Android) whilst you are still in range (its free!).
2. Open up the app and click the shopping cart icon.
3. Click ‘Find’ and type the name of the reservoir reserve you are looking for.
4. Click on the map you are after and install it (all our maps are free).
5. You will now find a list of your installed maps on the home page of the Avenza Maps app.
6. Use our maps through the Avenza Mapa app while in the reserve and never take a wrong turn again.

Bundaleer has three loop trails to explore. The 7km Boundary Loop and the 4.5km Reservoir Loop both take you past the dam wall, while the 6km Woods Loop leads you along the northern shoreline and into the woodlands. The unsealed paths are suitable for beginner mountain bikers of all ages.

Happy Valley

Happy Valley boasts nearly 30 kilometres of trails, all of which are suitable for mountain bikes. Beginners can explore shorter loop trails, while experienced mountain bikers can do a loop around the reservoir. You can also go on a 9 kilometre geocaching adventure where you’ll need to find the route yourself.

Paths are shared with pedestrians, so please be considerate of other trail users.

Two unsealed trails provide great bushwalking experience with water views. The 5.5km Western Loop and the 9km Eastern Loop are graded as intermediate mountain bike trails. The Eastern Loop is suitable for beginners, while the Western Loop requires a moderate level of skill and fitness.

Hope Valley

Linking into the O-Bahn Bikeway, Hope Valley’s 4.6km of unsealed trails loop around the reservoir reserve, cross the dam wall and weave through native vegetation. You can also combine your ride with a workout at the outdoor exercise equipment. The paths are shared by both cyclists and walkers. Please be considerate of other trail users and beware of operational traffic.

Little Para

Little Para offers cyclists a great side-track for adventure, with more than three kilometres of both easy and intermediate skill level shared trails to explore. Families looking for a picturesque spot to cycle together will also enjoy the trails and opportunities to stop and discover the local birds and wildlife.

Myponga’s unsealed 10.5km trail network caters to mountain bikers of all skill levels.

The 3.3km loop on the south-eastern side of the reserve is suitable for beginners and takes you across open plains, through forested areas and native vegetation.

The 3km western loop provides a more adventurous ride for thrill seekers looking for a few downhill sections.

South Para

With a range of tracks on offer covering nearly 10km, you can explore on two wheels through a changing landscape of native bushland and plantation forests to reach stunning water views. The intermediate mountain bike trails are suitable for riders with a moderate level of skill and fitness.
