Kangaroo Creek Reservoir
The Kangaroo Creek dam was completed in 1969, increasing the storage capacity for the River Torrens and feeding into Millbrook reservoir. The dam has been upgraded to widen the spillway and raise and strengthen the wall. This helps manage major floods and increases the dam's ability to withstand earthquakes.
Water from Kangaroo Creek is released into the River Torrens to maintain the level in the Hope Valley Reservoir as required, with the water diverted at the Gorge Weir.
Capacity: 18.7 gigalitres
Public access: No, but there is a lookout on the roadside above which is open every day.

Upgrade works at Kangaroo Creek Dam were completed in 2019 to widen the spillway, and raise and strengthen the wall. This work has helped to manage major floods and increase the dam's ability to withstand earthquakes.
The footage above shows some of the exciting developments from the second, third and final stages of the project.
