Major faults and scheduled works

This bulletin board is where we publish updates about major faults and scheduled works. We only report major service disruptions here. If you require further information about a major fault or scheduled work, or are aware of one that is not listed below, you can contact us through our 24/7 Fault line 1300 883 121.

Read our step by step guide to find out what happens when you report a fault.

Fault types we post online

Burst: Water erupting or gushing from the ground. Usually found on, or near a road (however, some of our pipes run through open public spaces and private land).

Major Leak: Visible leaks coming from the road surface (not metal access plates) on main roads only, including all roads in Adelaide's CBD and North Adelaide.

Water Off: Often this will be because we have turned the water supply off to allow crews to mend damaged pipes - water supply disruptions often follow a major burst.

Water Quality
Some Adelaide Hills customers may notice changes in the taste and/or smell of their tap water, as we work hard to reduce the impact of an algal bloom in the Summit Reservoir.
The algal bloom is causing a naturally occurring compound called geosmin, which can affect water taste and odour, but is harmless to health. The water remains safe to drink.
We expect customers in the following areas may notice this change: Mount Barker, Balhannah, Oakbank, Verdun, Hahndorf, Heathfield, Stirling, Crafers, Lenswood, Lobethal, Woodside, Brukunga, Mount Torrens, Birdwood, Gumeracha, Kersbrook, Cudlee Creek, Wistow, Nairne, Littlehampton, Strathalbyn, Clayton, Milang, Langhorne Creek and Bridgewater.
We have made changes to our treatment processes at the Summit Water Treatment Plant to reduce the level of geosmin in the water.
Our testing shows no algae has been detected in the network and it has been completely removed as part of our normal treatment process.
If our customers have any questions or concerns, please contact us on 1300 SA WATER.

Water Quality

Residents supplied from our Swan Reach, Morgan and Waikerie Water Treatment Plants may notice changes in the taste and/or smell of their tap water.

The water is safe to drink and testing throughout the area and at the treatment plant shows the water fully complies with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

We expect customers in the following areas may notice this change: Barossa, Barmera, Yorke Peninsula, Waikerie, Port Pirie and some areas of the Mid North.

The changes are due to an algal bloom present in some areas of the River Murray, a common event in warm summer months. This is causing a naturally occurring compound called geosmin, which can affect water taste and odour, but is harmless to health.

We have made changes to our treatment processes at Swan Reach, Morgan and Waikerie to minimise the impact, and expect the smell and taste of water supplied to our customers to return to normal over the next week.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us on 1300 SA WATER.

We have made changes to our treatment processes at the Summit Water Treatment Plant to reduce the level of geosmin in the water.
