Applying for a flow test


This is an application to SA Water requesting:

  • A flow test to determine the volume and pressure of water from a fire plug or street hydrant to verify any design requirements for fire fighting purposes

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are the owner of the property, or,
  • You are a person authorised by the owner of the property

SA Water will provide all communications to the party who submits this application. It is the responsibility of that party to communicate with the owner/s or occupier/s of the property.

How long an application takes:

Your online application will take 10 minutes to complete.

We will aim to provide an invoice for the requested service within 5 business days.

Information you need to apply:

Have the following information on hand to make it easier to apply:

  • The number of fire plugs you require to be tested at the same property
  • The location of all the fire plugs to be tested at the property (using street names and landmarks can be helpful)
  • Plan/s identifying the fire plug/s that require flow testing

Flow test location details

Note: a maximum of 3 fireplugs will be charged at a reduced rate for each full priced fireplug tested.

For example, Three fire plug flow tests are requested, 1st in front of Lot 97 Queen St Thebarton, 2nd in front of Lot 15 Stirling St Thebarton and the 3rd in Reid St Thebarton half way between Queen St and Stirling St.

Terms and conditions

This application is subject to the terms and conditions contained within SA Water's Standard Customer Contract, and the Connections Policy. The Standard Customer Contract and Connections Policy applies to you, as a customer, from submission of this application. Fees for this service are listed in the Fees and Charges Schedule, including pricing for and initial flow test and any subsequent tests submitted on this application form.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an invoice for the applicable fee for this service within 5 business days. Please follow the instructions on the invoice to make the necessary payment. Please note that your Flow Test Report will not be completed until payment has been received by SA Water. Upon completion of the physical Flow Test, results will be promptly forwarded to you.
